1) E85 Z4s were manufactured with HID headlights as an upgrade option from Halogens. 2) HIDs have extra components - like a ballast. Those components are not present on halogen cars. So the HIDs are not just different bulbs. 3) In the Z4, like many other modern cars, the high and low beam bulbs on halogen cars are the same.
Difference between pre and post facelift Z4. I've only had my Z4 a few weeks, it's the post facelift model. The only difference between mine and a prefacelift (at a glance) is that the lights are different. I've searchd for a post explaining the differences but haven't had any luck.

1) Anyone know of a plug and play amplifier upgrade for the Z4? I want to keep the stock headunit and really don't want to go cutting wires. 2) Alternatively, does the Z4 676 system match some other BMW systems (i.e. can I go look at 676 systems from the E90 and find a solution?
